Wu Guanzhong was a Chinese Asian Modern & Contemporary artist who was born in 1919. He was sent to the countryside to do hard labor in the 1970s. "Loofah Fruits" was created on canvas placed on top of a dung basket after he got approval to paint every Sunday in 1972. A group of rustic oil paintings had made during this period. Corn, sorghum, cotton, winter squash, pumpkin, and so on, had become the subjects of his works.
