十二生肖Twelve Zodiac

在中國傳統曆法中，十二種動物代表年份同十二地支相對，週而復始，生生不息。生肖取數十二，正出於古人對自然事物變遷、季節更替的歸納性認識。 “掌十有二岁、十有二月、十有二辰”，寒暑交替，植物枯榮，十二月即為“一歲”；十二生肖配以人類出生年份，以十二種不同性情的動物影射人類道德品格，強調了動物在人類生活中的重要意義，更體現了天人合一的哲學思想。

世間萬物自虛無中生成，構成綿延不斷的歷史長河。作品「十二生肖」既融入了藝術家對於时间的理解：綿長無盡，用之不勤，皦昧明暗，庚续相承；同時，通過華夏民俗中的生肖文化體現週行不殆的時間流程，又延續了「炁」產生於陰陽相依之時，其對於天地萬物的原初性。

In the traditional Chinese calendar, twelve years are a cycle and each year is represented by an animal, they are recurring and endless. The number twelve is stemmed from seasonal changes in the nature - twelve months represents a cycle in which constitute how plants bloom in the summer and die in the fall. The twelve zodiac each symbolizes a different temperament, highlighting the importance of animals in human lives, and embodies the philosophical thinking of uniting nature and man.

Everything is created from nothingness, and it constitutes a long history of continuous development. The work "Twelve Zodiac" not only incorporates the artist's understanding of time - it is endless and present in both light and dark - and at the same time, through the Chinese folklore, it reflects continuousness. It embodies how “Qi" is originated from the yin and yang, and the originality of all things in heaven or on earth.
